Is an African safari on your bucket list? Plan to join an Academy Safari. Camaraderie with other grads makes the safari experience even better! Each Academy Safari consists of just five couples including us. We host each safari personally, and tailor all to be the trip of a lifetime. Consider inviting classmates, friends or family to join you.

The View from the Cape Town Villa

Choose from two itineraries. Academy Safaris usually start with four nights in Cape Town in a villa with a grand view of False Bay. From the villa we tour historic Cape Town absorbing the sights and sounds of Table Mountain, Robben Island,  the wine country of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, the V&A Waterfront, the District Six Museum, the African Penguin Colony, Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope and more. We take full advantage of many fine dining opportunities along the way.

After Cape Town, on safaris which include Victoria Falls, we typically fly to the little airport at Hoedspruit, then bus to spend four nights in Sabi Sands adjoining Kruger Park. In our "bush camp" each couple has a private, luxurious chalet. 

Our games drives there traverse the same ground National Geographic's Safari Live chose for its rich density of game. It is reputedly the best safari grounds in the world. For a taste of what is to come, Google "National Geographic Safari Live" and tune into some of their online safari broadcasts.

Elephants in the Zambezi River

We return to Johannesburg for a night then fly to Victoria Falls for two nights at the the grand dame of Zimbabwean colonial hotels, the Victoria Falls Hotel. We tour the falls and town on foot; enjoy two cruises on the Zambezi River among the crocs and hippos; plus take a helicopter ride over the falls. With luck, we will see elephants and other game along the river as well. 

On safaris which do not include Victoria Falls, after three nights at Sabi Sands we decamp to a second bush camp in the vicinity of Kruger National Park for three more nights and days of wonderful game viewing. There again, each couple has a luxurious, private chalet.

Leopard on the Prowl

Not all game drives are equally successful, but two game drives each day for four days in Sabi Sand, or six full days in two separate camps, virtually assures you of close encounters with African elephant, rhino, lions, leopards, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, cheetah and many other African animals. Unique opportunities for once-in-a-lifetime pics on our photo safari will abound. Our professional guides make these wonderfully educational as well. 

Accommodations, ground transport, all scheduled activities, parks fees, all breakfasts and two catered dinners in Cape Town are included. All meals in bush camps plus house wines and liquors in Cape Town and in the bush camps are included. All air transport, tips and other meals in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Victoria Falls (4 lunches and 3 dinners - 4 dinners if going to Victoria Falls) are not included.

A Close Encounter

At the end of the safari, we bus back to the Hoedspruit airport for flights back to Johannesburg or Cape Town for your return to the United States. Alternately, we encourage you to extend your stay to see more of Africa. If you chose the safari itinerary which maximizes time in the bush, you might even choose visit Victoria Falls on your own with our guidance.

There are spots for just 5 couples remaining in the Fall of 2026 safaris, spots for 4 couples in one safari and a spot for one couple in the other. The cost of a these is $7995 per person sharing (excludes airfare).  Click the link to find the schedules, itineraries and availability of all safaris on the Schedule Page of our website. Then scroll down to see each safari. A Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi

We have just posted the dates and itineraries of our 2027 safaris as well. These cost $8495 per person and spots in all four safaris are currently available. 

We accept commitments on a first come basis. Simply reply to this email stating the specific safari you wish to join as a first step to secure your spots. Please also reply to say you are interested and we will put you on the list of people who get notified of future safari dates first.
